Rainy Day Project- Stuffed Animals
In my last blog post I mentioned that I wasn’t crafty and original, but I take all that back! After some more cooped-up rainy weather, this is the result:
HOMEMADE STUFFED ANIMALS!!! In order from left to right, a "donkey dog"...a "baby dinosaur"...and a "T Rex"
|The kids (ages 3, 5, and 6) designed their own creatures on paper. I layed their drawing over a double layer of fabric, to account for the front and back, and cut them out at the same time. I sewed a quick hem around the perimeter, leaving a small opening for turning inside out and stuffing. The kids used a combination of old fabric scraps and polyester filling to stuff their “animal” and I closed the opening with a simple hand stitch. They drew with markers on the outside, and voila! Homemade stuffed animals!By the way, perfection is definitely not the goal here- can you tell from the photo above? I sewed quickly and did my best to honor their drawings. Still, they think I’m an expert stuffed animal maker and can’t wait ’til the next rainy day.
