Rainy Day Project- Stuffed Animals

by Christine@TheAums on December 7, 2010 · 5 comments

In my last blog post I mentioned that I wasn’t crafty and original, but I take all that back!  After some more cooped-up rainy weather, this is the result:

HOMEMADE STUFFED ANIMALS!!! In order from left to right, a "donkey dog"...a "baby dinosaur"...and a "T Rex"

The kids (ages 3, 5, and 6) designed their own creatures on paper.  I layed their drawing over a double layer of fabric, to account for the front and back, and cut them out at the same time.  I sewed a quick hem around the perimeter, leaving a small opening for turning inside out and stuffing.  The kids used a combination of old fabric scraps and polyester filling to stuff their “animal” and I closed the opening with a simple hand stitch. They drew with markers on the outside, and voila!  Homemade stuffed animals!By the way, perfection is definitely not the goal here- can you tell from the photo above?  I sewed quickly and did my best to honor their drawings.  Still, they think I’m an expert stuffed animal maker and can’t wait ’til the next rainy day.
Don’t leave your homemade stuffed animals naked! Make some clothes for them!

Awesome idea! These projects are the things they will remember forever and probably do with their own kids on some rainy day in the future……d

Where do I go to order one of those T-Rex's? A must for any dino-lover.

It's great catching up with your posts after being away for a few weeks. So much great stuff. You're a very creative person, you just don't give ourself enough credit.
