Should Circumcision Be Banned?

adding circumcision to my latest iVoices report for iVillage. I also wrote about it here. It certainly has been a thought-provoking topic, and since I keep bringing it up at parties, I have to say, it’s quite a pun-provoking topic as well. I thought about sharing a few with you here, but prefer to keep my integrity as a reporter intact. Ahem.

Many thanks to my interviewees whose names, for some reason, were left on the cutting room floor. In order of appearance: Gina Orlanda, Zac Whitehouse and Maggie apRoberts-Warren, Peck, and Matt Singer.

I don't know if it ought to be outright banned, but I do wish people thought more about WHY they are removing a piece of their infant's anatomy that's perfectly natural and seldom harmful… I sure as heck wouldn't cut anything off my daughter that wasn't medically dictated!

@TheBabbyMama, one of my interviewees summed it up pretty well, IMO, by saying it should be the parents' choice, but the parents should take into consideration the baby's choice. We shall see how it goes in November when San Francisco votes.
