Hi! Remember me? I used to be on Blogger? Well, I’m HERE…you know, on WordPress! I made it to the other side and it’s not as dark as I imagined. It took me exactly 3 weeks to the day from start to fini…okay, I’m in no way finished, let’s get that straight.
I have a long list of to do’s this week like menu plan, shop for groceries, wash the bedding, scrub the toilets, get ready for overnight guests…okay wait, wrong list. But when I’m through with those, I can work on my blog and hopefully stay awake long enough to get this blog in shape…in shape…crap, I forgot to add exercise to the above list! And sleep…does anyone ever add sleep to their list? How great would that be to wake up and cross something off, first thing?
Sorry, I’m so giddy to be writing a new post on my new WordPress site, I can’t help but digress…
So think of this blog as a new restaurant or store that opens but holds the Grand Opening like a month later after settling in and tweaking as needed. I know I’m missing some key elements, but all in due time.
Now before I press ‘publish’ for the first time, I just want to say that even though I switched from Blogger to WordPress on my own, I certainly was not without tons of help and support along the way. More than I could even keep track of, but I tried!
This will morph into a blog roll one day, but quick and sincere shout outs to…wait, I don’t even know these people’s names, just their twitter handles…kidding…I couldn’t have done this without Twitter, that’s for freakin’ sure: @NorthwestMommy @MyTimeAsMom @MamaWantsThis @SixYearItch @MamaKnowsItAll @SharonMomof6 @AdotheMomalog @MTDLBlog @Latoress @MommyMonologues @HumorandHoney to name a few, plus, one very talented uncle.
And you know, I’m not gonna lie…
The one thing it took to transfer my blog to WordPress, above all else…
Seeing as I announced my impending switch to WordPress on allthingsfadra.com’s Stream of Consciousness Sunday, I thought it fitting to link up even though by no means did this first post take 5 minutes. Ha!

SO EXCITED! And now I know you’ll be great support and inspiration for me when I finally make the switch! CONGRATS! I LOVE IT!
p.s. I hear they make whipped cream vodka…. just sayin….
Thanks, Jeanne! I’m so happy to be back…can’t wait to do some haikus with ya! I will definitely be there for you if you decide to switch…and now I’m off to google ‘whipped cream vodka!’
How exciting for you! I have only been on WP and blogging for a month and love WP! It took me a few weeks to figure out how it works and not erase all my work!! Have fun and enjoy your new “restaurant!”
Well, right now, WP and I are just getting to know each other. I’ll tell you what I do love…it’s so much easier to reply to individual comments on WP than Blogger. A few weeks is not a bad learning curve…I hope to follow in your footsteps and have it figured out by then!
I’m so happy your back! It’s just hasn’t be the same The Internet without you!
And you forgot the most important person to thank: YOSELF!
Lis, thanks for listening to my bitchin’ and cryin’ for the past month! Hugs!
Hurray and congratulations. Oh, how pretty your blog looks. What an awesome header( that sounds very naughty ha?) LOVE IT!!
As a housewarming present: the website for the comic book style creation is comiclife.com They have a free 30day trial. Have fun creating.
Stasha, I’m still in shock! Your support has meant soooo much to me! Thanks for the blogwarming gift…I will definitely make use of it!
Christine, YAY!!!! So glad this is finally done, don’t you just LOVE Wordpress?? I was all giddy too after my switch and came staring at my homepage. I’m all hats off to you for doing this on your own too.
Love the header, it’s so cute!
Thank you, Alison… it’s definitely not LOVE at first site (haha, get it?), but I hope with a little time WP grows on me. The header is actually what kept me going!
Hooray! You’ve landed the blog safely on “the other side”….. of course, I was expecting a picture of glass of wine, not whipped cream there at the end- but surprise is the spice of life, right?
Seriously- major congrats! Glad to have you back! I’ve missed your posts!
XOXOXO
Thank you, Sharon! It feels good even though I have so much to do still…that’s where the wine will come in!
I was thinking “Wow, she is an amazingly fast typist!” only now… I know the whole story!
Congrats on your move. I have thought of moving my blog so many times but it just feels so intimidating I never manage to get it done. Thank you for the inspiration and wow, am glad I found you today via SOCSunday!
Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by from SOCSunday. Feel free to ask me anything about the process of switching…I’m know a lot about what NOT to do!
I am soooooo proud of you! What an amazing, technical, #geekher feat you have accomplished! You’re baaaaaaaaackkkkkkk!!!!!
And you’re neeeeeexxxxxxtttttt, Brandi! I know you will have a much smoother transition than I did, but I’m here for you and I’ll buy some extra whipped cream!
I love WordPress! Hit me with any of your questions! I also know my way around Thesis pretty well. But mostly? I LOVE the picture in your header! Hilarious and so spot on!
Thanks, Fadra, for your header love (awkward-sounding) and kind offer to answer my questions…I’m looking forward to getting back into SOC Sunday and actually following the rules!
Why is everyone abandoning Blogger? Is it really that bad? Now I have to seriously think this through. Thanks for following me on Twitter. And Congratulations on your switch to Wordpress!
Thanks! You know, there’s a bit of peer pressure involved to be on WP. But the switch that everyone is talking about is not to Wordpress.com (which is similar to Blogger) but rather Wordpress.org which is self-hosted (and so far a big headache) and hopefully in the long run the best choice for my blogging goals. I think it’s a matter of time before I learn my way around, but feel free to ask me anything about my experience so far.
