hahahaha!! I could totally eat a donut in 30 seconds flat – string or not! hehehe
Annie, whatever you do, do not tie plain donuts to the string…they must be moist and covered with glaze of some sort. Seriously, it’s a safety precaution. Not that you’d go for plain
I’ve done that! It looks like they’re all having a great time…although the youngest one looks a little smarter than the other three.
Yup, the fourth one has it figured out!
Ha!! I love this! I think if I couldn’t get the hang of it I’d use P-Lo’s plan of attack
I know…she’s totally thinking, “Why are they making it so hard on themselves…it’s a donut!” Now I’m thinking about what other food I can hand from a string…this could be a year-round thing!
So sweet. I was just thinking about you yesterday, what you will be for Halloween this year. Your photo of you all dressed up on your previous website was my favorite ever!
That was one of my favorite Halloween costumes, too! I think our days of dressing up with a family theme are numbered, but we might pull of zombies this year…the Aumies are still discussing.
oh the little one…just slays me!
I know! I just couldn’t bring myself to tie her hands behind her back…but this year she joins the bigs…maybe.
Ok, I need some Words for this Wordless Wednesday! What the heck is going on in this hilariously cute picture??
Jeanne…I got sick of cleaning up dishes and wiping down tables and floors, so I now make my kids eat outside and I tie food to strings.
Also, every fall, on or around Halloween, we do the whole bob for apples and have a donut eating contest, only they’re tied to strings and you can’t use your hands. It’s absolutely hilarious when the adults join too, but the kids look cuter
LOL-love this idea. Next time, I would appreciate an invite (I can smell the donuts from here and it’s driving me crazy)! Other food to tie to strings: chicken drumsticks and bacon (mmm… grease), soft fruit like peaches (mostly because I think it would be fun to see it explode with the first bite), smoothies (mostly because I just want to see you try), apples (this might seem kind of dull but it’s actually kind of hard to bite into something so hard whilst on a string – plus you could make them compete over the same apple for added fun), broccoli (feeble attempt at introducing something healthy that they might not otherwise eat – perhaps if you coat it in cheese sauce and tell them they have to eat it before the cheese sauce hits the ground). I could go on and on with this…..
Wow, this is a very thorough list, I’m taking notes
Hahaha!! I’m totally cracking up at this!! I would be so mad if I couldn’t catch that donut…because I LOVE donuts…I can eat 4 at a time…no joke…and not the little ones either. They are my downfall.
I love those skeleton pj’s too
Those skeleton pj’s were the easiest Halloween costume one year when we all dressed up as day of the dead skeletons. In order to get me to participate in the donut string game, you have to tie an entire apple fritter!
What fun!!! I’ve only done this with apples! I would be so frustrated if couldn’t get a bite of those donuts! The littlest one is so adorable =))
Thank you! Funny, I’ve bobbed for apples but never on a string. My kids love this game and there’s never been any donuts leftover, so I think you’d be okay.
You are such a fun Mom! I bet they had the best time!
Thanks! It’s now a weekly family tradition…I mean annual!
this one and your past blog post was totally adorable. I would try that if I have more kids in our home.
Thank you, Ces! Invite some kids or let the grown-ups join too, makes it extra funny! P.S. Your package is en route!
This would be complete torture for my daughter. She loves donuts.
The only thing that’s torture is a plain donut on a string which I will never do again. I was trying to be all “healthy” the first year and it backfired and was practically a choking hazard. It’s gotta be a frosted, glazed donut and once they get started, it’s just a matter of who finishes first!
I don’t know if I can take how cute they are!
I know exactly how you feel
