Unfilled Pie Fulfills 6 Year Old’s Dream

by Christine@TheAums on March 15, 2012 · 20 comments

My son, the 6 year old, loves pie. But more than pie, he loves pie crust and who can blame him?

So, as I went to bed last night, I had the idea to surprise him with an Invisible Pie!

Yup…just the pie crust, baked to perfection, and topped with whipped cream of course!

Life is short. If my 6 year old dreams of eating just pie crust, who am I to stand in his way? Besides, my kids think I’m fun and funny, so I have a reputation to keep up.

One day, I hope he falls in love with someone who loves pie filling because those are the best relationships.

It’s just too bad invisible pie doesn’t have invisible calories.

What random acts of fun have you done for your kids lately? And do you love pie crust, filling, or both?

Guess what Jiraum…….grandma “loves” pie crusts too……and grandpa loves the filling. for one birthday Tio Paul gave me a apple pie and took out all the apples, the crust was delicious!!

Not sure what you’re getting at Nicole, but Jiro did request we make a chocolate pudding pie next ;)

He is a boy after my own heart. I’m right there with him. I’m the one that will scoop out the filling of a pie and give it to my kids. It’s all about the crust in my world. This was an amazing idea. I must go to the grocery store now…Excuse me. Got to make a pie crust ;)

Christine@TheAums March 16, 2012 at 8:10 am

And by “make” I hope you mean throw a store-bought crust into the oven…yes?

Amber March 16, 2012 at 4:13 pm

I’m afraid no. I get to OCD about things like pie crust. So I have to make it from scratch. I blame my Father’s Mom. ;)

Love it. I have made just pie crust for myself before :) Your children really are adorable. How could you not treat them to a little slice of happiness?

Runnermom-jen March 17, 2012 at 6:09 am

You are awesome! I’m the opposite…I love the filling and leave the crust behind. :)

Christine@TheAums March 17, 2012 at 5:35 pm

I think I’ll try that next time Jen, just scoop out the filling for the filling lovers and divide the crust among the crust lovers so it’s not so dry. Of course a la mode works for everyone!

Greta March 17, 2012 at 8:23 pm

That is awesome! I never would have thought to do that. You’re so clever, Christine. :)

Christine@TheAums March 17, 2012 at 9:26 pm

It’s all about survival, Greta, as I’m sure you know…and having fun while you’re at it!

What a fun mom and a brilliant idea! I actually don’t like pie but craved it like crazy during my last pregnancy. Which is funny since my husband loves pie and I think you just gave me a great idea for a blog post that I will now go write…

Christine@TheAums March 18, 2012 at 7:36 am

Ooo…pregnancy cravings are a fun topic! Can’t wait to read your post :)
