Happy New Year to all my Aumies! I can call you that, right? Lady Gaga has Little Monsters, Justin Beiber has Beliebers, Twilight has Twihards… it makes perfect sense that The Aums has Aumies.
I’ve always wanted to do a Year in Review on my blog so I started one on New Year’s Eve, but I got majorly sidetracked when I (or rather my Facebook fans) decided I should make Chocolate Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Buttercream.
I’m sorry your screen is not Scratch ‘n’ Taste. They were so good, I ate one too many and woke up with a salted caramel hangover the next day. Of course, I subscribed to the old “hair of the dog” hangover cure and ate another for breakfast. Needless to say, salted caramel bliss is a good way to start the new year.
And reflecting…reflecting is a good way to start the year, too, especially while eating a cupcake. Without further ado:
In 2012, I introduced the “un-meme” which
was a way for me to not feel guilty about not blogging posed the question, “What else is going on in your life besides blogging?” Mostly it was a way for me to learn how to host a meme, set up a linky, and create and code a badge so I consider its short lifespan a success. Who knows…maybe I’ll revive it sometime this year.
I wrote my first series on birth reflections and it included my most popular post to date: Mom’s Survival Kit- Don’t Attend a Baby Shower Without One.
I wrote about some gigantic firsts: There was my first trip to New York, which was also my first solo flight since becoming a mom and my first blogging conference. And then we took our kids to Disneyland for the first time where I OD’d on churros.
I also joined forces with our local newspaper, the Santa Cruz Sentinel, which featured a profile of me as a blogger in October and introduced me to a wide variety of local bloggers I never knew existed. In fact, I finally met another mom who blogs in my hometown, Elizabeth from Motherhood: A Descent Into Madness!
Speaking of meeting bloggers in real life, in 2012 I met bloggers from near and far. Let’s see, I was stalked by The Mommy Tsunami, ran with Hungrigyrl, slept with Say it Rah-shay, ate dinner with The Momalog, had drinks with My Time As Mom and finally, hugged The Six Year Itch.
I don’t blog as often as I’d like, but everything I put out there is meant to add something positive to the world. Thank you for visiting, leaving comments when you can, and supporting my on and offline endeavors. I truly can’t wait to see who I meet this year and what 2013 has in store for me.
